Rowe discusses mikeroweWORKS and its accompanying Web site, describes the need for skilled labor in the United States as well as this nation’s negative perception of the skilled trades, and candidly shares what he learned about education and hard work from his family. (This podcast was recorded prior to the 2008 U.S. Presidential election, so some of the news items discussed during the interview are no longer current.)

In the final episode of the summer series on Web 2.0 in education, ACTE interviews Dr. Kathleen P. King, a graduate professor of adult education and human resources development at Fordham University, co-author of Podcasting for Teachers, and a podcaster on the Teachers’ Podcast. Dr. King talks about how podcasting got started, explains the basics of producing a podcast and gives specific examples of teacher-produced and student-produced podcasting in the classroom. She also discusses podcasting for educator professional development and examines some uses for podcasting that aren’t as effective as others.
