Interview with Josh Schuler, executive director of the Lemelson-MIT Program, which encourages student invention and innovation through grants, competitions and other outreach activities. Schuler describes the kind of inventive student projects the program has funded, the need for mentorship and collaboration in invention, and the importance of creative thinking and a sustainable culture of invention in our schools. He also looks beyond STEM disciplines to the other skills needed to invent successfully.
